Rays of Calm
Rays of the Sun in the rise and in the dawn are extremely beautiful and calm. Make our thoughts become like that. Not to salute, people will not even be think to looking at the mid-noon Sun.
ശാന്തിയേകുന്ന രശ്മികള്
പ്രഭാതത്തിലേയും സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തെയും സൂര്യന്റെ രശ്മികള് ഭംഗിയുള്ളതും ശാന്തിയേകുന്നതുമാണ്. അതുപോലെ നമ്മുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളെയും നമുക്ക് ശാന്തമാക്കാം. നട്ടുച്ചനേരത്തെ സൂര്യനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുവാന് പോയിട്ട് നോക്കുവാന് പോലും ആരും ധൈര്യപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

സത്യം ഏതു പമ്പരവിഡ്ഢി വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാലും സത്യം സത്യം തന്നെയാണ്. അതിനെ അംഗീകരിച്ചു തരുവാനുള്ള സന്മനസ്സുണ്ടാവണം. അസത്യം ഏതു കൊടികുത്തിയവന് വിളിച്ചു കൂവിയാലും അസത്യം അസത്യം തന്നെയത്രേ. അതിനെ എതിര്ക്കുവാനുള്ള ചങ്കൂറ്റമുണ്ടായിരിക്കണം.

ഹൊ. അങ്ങനെ മലയാളവും ശ്രേഷ്ഠഭാഷയായി. ഇനി സുരേഷ് ഗോപിയെപ്പോലെ കൊങ്ങയ്ക്കുപിടിച്ച് എന്തോക്കെയോ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ അതെല്ലാം കൂട്ടിക്കുഴച്ച് രണ്ടു നല്ല വര്ത്തമാനം കാച്ചുന്ന ആ പഴയ മലയാളം പറയുവാന് പറ്റുമോ ആവോ? ഹാവൂ.... എന്തായാലും എന്റെ മാതൃഭാഷ പ്രാകൃതമായതുകൊണ്ട് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു... !
അപ്പൊ നമ്മള് ആരായി?
515 വര്ഷങ്ങള്ക്കു മുമ്പ് ഒരു സായ്പ് കേരളത്തിലെത്തി. ഇതുവരെ നമ്മള് പഠിച്ചത് അയാള് കാപ്പാട് തീരത്ത് കാലുകുത്തിയെന്നാണ്. ദേ ഇന്നലെ സുപ്രഭാതത്തില് അത് കാപ്പാടല്ല, കൊയിലാണ്ടി ആണെന്ന്.... അപ്പൊ നമ്മള് ആരായി?
May 20 - the Dark Day
May 20. This day marks the landing of the western powers into the soil of our nation. In May 20, 1498 Vasco da Gama put his step at Kappad Beach near Calicut. This date changed the fate of our nation especially to a tiny community called “Konkani” who were resided in the beautiful sea-land area named “Konkan”. They did not foreseen what catastrophe await them at that time. Though the Gama was only an explorer but his intention was not that much transparent. The time had proven that also. This exploration of India by the western powers by their vested interest made Konkanis to left their homeland and go far away unknown lands for rescue.
Although more than 500 years passed now, but the wound the westerners given to Konkani community is not yet healed. I reside in Cochin where the same Gama was once buried (St. Francis Church, Fort Kochi). Not like Goa, where the other brothers of Konkani community suffered lot under Portuguese rule, the Konkanis of Cochin had to survive their identity and resist it from three western powers who ruled here. Cochin had a long history of rule under colonization. The city ruled once by Portuguese, then by the Dutch and at last by the British. Konkani community got challenged many times under these colonial rules. They even once attacked by Portuguese and had to witness the destruction of their main religious centre i.e. Tirumala Devaswom Temple at Gosripuram (Cochin) and helplessly flew to hide themselves.
So, this day, even if, some say that it is a beginning of a new era which had opened gate to new India, for Indians who get proud in the glorious past of our forefathers should not easily forget this dark day.

Impossible Dreams
The main reason for this situation of our nation, I think, that great souls and the leaders of our land had so many impossible dreams about the future and the common man had no single dream about their present.

പല മഹാന്മാര്ക്കും നേതാക്കള്ക്കും നാളത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള നടക്കാത്ത സ്വപ്നങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നതും സാധാരണക്കാരായ ജനങ്ങള്ക്ക് ഇന്നത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുപോലുമുള്ള സ്വപ്നങ്ങള് ഇല്ലാതായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതുമാണ് ഈ രാജ്യത്തെ ഇന്നത്തെ അവസ്ഥയ്ക്ക് കാരണം. :)

A Word about “Akshaya Triteeya” (अक्षय त्रितीया)
Here comes “Akshaya Triteeya” again. Day after tomorrow i.e., 13th May 2013, is its occurrence. Now it has become a day of the rich-men to desire for more wealth which they think will bring them unending happiness in their life. Now a days Goddess Mahalakshmi has become Goddess of the Gold. Everyone wants to look like Raja and Maharaja and wants to wear golden ornaments. What else to say even Gods will not wear this type of jewellary and this sum of gold.
Are we not aware that the wealth rests in the purity of heart and mind? Is it not flows in the breeze of wind which touches every tiny flower, makes lullaby in these ears? Are we become blind enough not to see the beauty of the natural wonders of the universe?
If we meditate silently on this subject we could understand that our universe is full of wealth only. Wealth is everywhere. There is no need to procure it from anywhere else. If it is brought from somewhere then it will get perished.
As Jeevas (souls), our wealth is Karma (actions) which guides us in this world as well as the other world. So we have to do good. We have to think and behave like human beings. By this we could enjoy the bliss of the Gods. This reasoning is lost today. Everyone is engaged themselves in the war of desire to become rich. The character is lost and the inner soul died. The call of the Lord had been unheard by the modern man. At this stage, we have to remember that the time allowed to us to live in this world is little.
Sadly, we had forgotten how to observe this auspicious day called “Akshaya Triteeya” the day which give ourselves an opportunity to think wisely. Please do not buy anything for yourself only. Do not waste time for the sake of yourself only. Think for others. Do charity. Think about poor. Shed tears for themselves. Love our pitiable, down trodden and less fortunate brothers who have no food, shelter and help. Do prayers for them. Go and sit in front of great men, Gurus (masters and teachers) to acquire knowledge for bringing jewel like blessings from them.
Love all and embrace the universal entity by this tiny mind of ours. By doing this, we will attain everlasting mental peace and happiness. Let the Lord give His utmost imperishable boon to all in this day of “Akshaya Triteeya”.

Sangeetha Ratna Shri. N.P. Ramaswamy (Pensketch)
Shri. N.P. Ramaswamy Sir, is one of the most famous carnatic vocalists in India. Shri. Ramaswamy has been in the field of music for the last 60 years and has performed across the country. He has authored several articles and papers relating to music and has penned three books too. He studied up to his tenth standard in T.D. High School, Kochi and higher education in Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam. Shri. Ramaswamy is an MSc in Applied Chemistry – Pharmaceutical Science
Shri. Ramaswamy’s repertoire includes over 1,500 compositions which include 24 krithis and 16 varnam. He is the best-known music teacher in the state and has groomed many famous musicians. He is top grade singer in AIR for more than 50 years and conducted thousands of concerts. He has very large circle of disciples and music lovers.
Shri. Ramaswamy Sir, is the recipient of the gold medal for Carnatic music from Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam. He has also won the Sangeetha Ratna, Sangeetha Poornasree awards, the Kerala state award and Sangeetha Thilakam award. Please visit his official website : npramaswami.com/

years studied under famous portrait artist Late Shri. Joseph Newton. He
is running my own Studio Gallery named “Chitrasala Art Gallery” and the
gallery got privilege to receive auspicious guest Sir Roy Calne (Nobel
Prize Winner), Shri. K.K.N. Kurup (Historian and former Director
General, Centre for Heritage Studies, Hill Palace & Former Vice
Chancellor, Calicut University), Cinestar Salim Kumar etc.
